Skill Type: Logia Devil Fruit
Skill Information: As a logia fruit, the Beta Beta no Mi allows the user to transform into, generate and control a sticky, highly flammable substance.
Skill Strengths:
- It holds the obvious logia advantage of being able to absorb blows from an enemy’s body or weapon with the added benefit of making it rather difficult to retrieve said limb or weapon after getting it stuck.
- The generated substance is incredibly sticky, capable of binding and suspending incredibly heavy objects such as ships with ease.
- Given the flammable nature of the goo, it can double both as a glue to hold an opponent in place as well as napalm to inflict physical injury.
- With the ability to walk or crawl up walls and along ceilings it makes it much easier to ambush a foe. It’s also great for parties!
Skill Weaknesses:
- As all devil fruit users are, the user of Beta Beta no Mi will be entirely unable to swim and will also feel the same debilitating effects from sea stone.
- Attacks imbued with haki will negate the effects of the devil fruit, striking home as if there were no fruit in play at all.
- Being as flammable as it is, this fruit’s powers have a particular weakness against fire and those who control it. While the substance on its own can be used as napalm, if the user is lit aflame in their transformed state they’ll almost instantaneously incur heavy burns as they light up like a poorly prepared barbecue grill.
- Given the nature of this fruit’s abilities, it’s rendered almost useless by someone with the ability to become incorporeal or with enough strength to break free from the binding goop.
- Ability Lvl 1:
- Ability Lvl 1 Name: Beta Ball Bullet
Ability Lvl 1 Type: Long Range|80 yards
Ability Lvl 1 Cooldown: 2
Ability Lvl 1 Description: Rather than relying on the element’s sticky properties, the user instead fires a bullet-sized globule from the finger with enough speed and power to give it the same effect as a powerful punch.
Ability Lvl 1 Strengths:- It’s a projectile without needing a projectile weapon or ammo.
- Can be deceptively effective, especially against an opponent expecting something more sticky and less attack oriented.
- Able to be fired with pinpoint accuracy due to the nature of point and shoot.
Ability Lvl 1 Weaknesses:- Considering it’s a straight shot, it can be somewhat easy to dodge if you know it’s coming.
- Since one needs to point to fire a shot, it’s a choreographed attack with an easily predicted path.
- There isn’t enough substance used to take advantage of the sticky properties other than the inability to remove it from whatever surface it struck.
Ability Lvl 1 Name: Beta Ball Mortar
Ability Lvl 1 Type: Mid Range|30 yards
Ability Lvl 1 Cooldown: 3
Ability Lvl 1 Description: An arching blob of sticky goo, roughly the size of the intended target, is hurled with the intention of covering and sticking the target in place. If the target's strength is 20 points higher or more than the user's endurance they can break free after two posts. If the target's strength is 30 points or more it will only require one post. More than 40 points difference barely holds them back at all.
Ability Lvl 1 Strengths:- The obvious benefit is the ability to halt a speedy target in their tracks and at least temporarily stop a stronger foe as they fight to break free.
- A struck target can be lit aflame for heavy incendiary damage.
- Even if the attack is dodged, the sticky that splashes over the floor will then become a floor hazard.
Ability Lvl 1 Weaknesses:- It can usually be easily dodged given the arching shot.
- Even as a floor hazard, covered spots can still be avoided, at least in a large area.
- Fire will quickly burn the substance up and eliminate any chance of getting oneself stuck or free a person that is already stuck (with the exchange of bodily harm).
Ability Lvl 1 Name: Beta Web
Ability Lvl 1 Type: Long Range|80 yards
Ability Lvl 1 Cooldown: 2
Ability Lvl 1 Description: Fires a sticky net approximately the same size as the target in an attempt to snare them. If struck, it will fully encase the person in a sticky web. If the target's strength is 10 points higher or more than the user's endurance they can break free after two posts. If the target's strength is 20 points or more it will only require one post. More than 30 points difference barely holds them back at all.
Ability Lvl 1 Strengths:- This attack is faster and harder to dodge than Beta Ball Mortar given that it fires quickly in a straight line, like firing a net from a net... gun.
- It’s lighter and faster than Beta Ball Mortar while having roughly the same effect.
- Can be struck up like a spider’s web for a completely unaware or falling opponent or even to catch an ally and let them down much easier.
Ability Lvl 1 Weaknesses:- If the attack misses, its effect is almost always null, even as an environmental hazard.
- Lighting an affected target on fire isn’t as useful given the stringier, webby nature of the attack.
- It’s also much easier to break out of, trading speed for effectiveness.
Ability Lvl 1 Name: Beta Lash
Ability Lvl 1 Type: Long Range|80 yards
Ability Lvl 1 Cooldown: 3
Ability Lvl 1 Description: The user creates a whip, rope or chain of their sticky element for various uses. If connected to a person or animal, if the target's strength is 20 points higher or more than the user's endurance they can break free after two posts. If the target's strength is 30 points or more it will only require one post. More than 40 points difference barely holds them back at all.
Ability Lvl 1 Strengths:- One of the more obvious strengths of this ability is the capability to strike one object or person with the sticky whip and either hold the other end or attach it to something else, making the two things almost inseparable.
- If the stickiness is toned down, the length of sticky goo can be used like a lash to deliver sharp blows on an enemy.
- Can be used to ‘fish’ for objects, people or animals from a distance.
Ability Lvl 1 Weaknesses:- Once again, a little fire will go a long way toward freeing whatever is bound.
- Things could go south quickly if something that wouldn’t normally be moved is moved by an unexpectedly powerful opponent. A pillar for structural integrity, perhaps?
- The user could find themselves being the one flung about if they attempt to bind someone or something with superior strength or stance.
Ability Lvl 1 Name: Beta Tight Squeeze
Ability Lvl 1 Type: Close Range
Ability Lvl 1 Cooldown: 2
Ability Lvl 1 Description: Through whatever means, the user closes in on the foe’s position to capture them in a sticky hug that will instantly coat them in their sticky element, preventing movement of limbs as well as sticking them solidly to the floor. If the target's strength is 20 points higher or more than the user's endurance they can break free after two posts. If the target's strength is 30 points or more it will only require one post. More than 40 points difference barely holds them back at all.
Ability Lvl 1 Strengths:- The most effective method of capturing and holding a victim, this ensures an almost foolproof capture.
- If it misses then it can generally be attempted again in quick succession.
- Who wouldn’t want a hug?! Also, can be lit up like the Mortar for pretty decent incendiary type damage.
Ability Lvl 1 Weaknesses:- An ambush only works once and, if it fails, you’re pretty much out of luck in most cases.
- Trying this ability with a straightforward method almost guarantees taking hits.
- Being forced to take on the properties of their element for this technique makes the user incredibly susceptible to any type of flame or spark.
- It’s a projectile without needing a projectile weapon or ammo.
