On the rough streets of Pirate Island there was a foul stench running along the city. It smelt like beer and blood. This Island was famous for Pirates coming and going as they please fit. The waters were rough along the shores, a storm was approaching. The Wind was howling as it blew against the tavern. It was made of only wood and a sign that hung out in front saying 'Ale Tavern'. The pirates gathered around the bar and inside too. Laughing, snarling, chuckling amongst themselves. Some saying secret words others belching out words. Although one character stood out from the ground. A small like doll fasten at the bar stool. Golden locks dripped down like a waterfall almost touching the floor. The small body of a elven year old sat amongst the husky, gross men. The emerald eyes focused on the food in front of her.

Emerald had just came into the town. She wanted out from the storm that was approaching. Here she lay across Pirate Island. Hating the fact that she had to stay here. The oder of men filled her nose. Ordering food only since the only thing she saw on the list was alcohol. She looked at the food in front of her. It was meat and a fine small salad. The bartender gave her suspicious glances that she was a runaway even though she paid for her meal in full.

There were only two empty seats in the bar left. And they were both right next to Emerald. Others seemed to notice her when she walked in. Her head held high and a blank look across her face. People either thought she was a lost child or a doll. Either way it didn't matter to her one bit.

It wasn't that he was mad or anything, but the fact that he hadn't fought to his limits in three whole days drove Damien to the brink of rage. His jaw was clenched and his eyes were held in stares. While he had arrived on Pirate Island in order to either make a crew or find a crew to join, the young and brawny male was in a state of deep, perpetual disappointment. Either all the guy's he fought were physically weak, or they weren't even close to ambitious, well as ambitious as he was at least. Yet he recognized danger and at the sight of the ends blowing hard, he went inside of the first bar he could find, which was incidentally called "Ale Tavern"

The place was packed! It was all that was expected of great drinking pub. Women who looked like they had had better days in there past decades hovered around men with deep pockets. Men were showing off and getting roaring drunk from there own account, while others just sat and ate in the loud and bacchanal place. An explosion of odors and sounds was evident ever since he set his first metal boot on the entrance and the piercing smell of cooked, but old meat stroked him harder than a stab to the chest. It was all that Damien loved, except something he found odd. Somehting that defiantly looked out of place.

It was a girl, no bigger than five feet and nine inches, with nice features, a solemn and hard face, and a plate of meat, accompanied with salad, right in front of her. Beside her there were two empty spots by the bar, and since he was both hungry and itching for a nice mug of cold ale, he sat down right next to the oddly in comparison girl, and waved around a strong hand at the bartendted to serve him up a huge glass of whatever was the house specialty. He also roared hard as he laughed just to mix in with the crowd, but after getting his big, round and pungently smelling drink, he smiled at the girl and said:

"Hey, it is not in my best interest to ask, but why the heck are you in a place like this. You look too, how do I put this delicately, decent dearie!" Whispered the tall and muscular male as he gulped down his cold beverage and flashed her one of his signature grins.

A man sat besides her. The emerald eyes locked on to the man that sat besides her. The deep emerald eyes looked from his head to his tall body. He was tall. Too tall. Compared to a small girl like her she was tiny with him sitting next to her. Only 5'0' while this man was almost 7'0". This man piked her interest a little. Although it soon faded when he started acting like the others. Turning her head away from the man the golden locks followed. He spoke to her in that rough voice making her her look at him from the corner of her eye.

Emerald didn't respond suddenly. Instead she shoved the food away from her face. Hating the smell that reeked around it. She reached in her bag and pulled out a box of pocky sticks. Eating the sweet sticks was better than eating the meat that the people made. She wasn't really picky about food, only picky were she was eating her food.

"I didn't see on the door that decent wasn't aloud."

Her voice hinted that she didn't want to talk to the man. Especially not a man that acts with the crowd. Listening outside she could hear the wind howling more as it pounded against the windows and doors. The rain started to come down at the roof. Some places started to leak. A drop of rain hit the girls face as it dripped down her face and on to the counter.

    "Its raining."

She said softly. Pushing another pocky stick into her mouth. Listening to the people around her. Each person carrying their own conversation. Flooding the tavern with voices. Emerald looked at the huge man and rattled her pocky box.

    "Do you want one?"

Damien had to admit that he had defiantly underestimated this girl. She looked tiny and unimposing, but man she had balls for talking to him like that, and he liked it. He decided to stop acting like a jerk and fixed his eyepatch on his left eye. He really didn't need his eyepatch though, it was just something he used against weaker people when he fought. Since he didn't need to fight right now and since he was in a mostly non-combat environment Damien placed his hands on the back strap of his eyepatch, undid the hooks and nooks and removed his eyepatch slowly. As he removed it, a tiny cloud of dust and old blood dripped a bit. He didn't need the eyepatch, but the scar on his side sure proved he got injured some time ago. Yet, being the stubborn and arrogant man he was, Damien refused to tell anybody about his injury or his past.

While he towered over the nice-looking, yet surprisingly icy girl, he slouched so much on his stood that if looked like he was an entire foot shorter. He had a devious and mischievous smirk plastered on his face and after hearing some mumbling from the girl, something about rain, he placed the cold mug he was enjoying down on the bar's table and looked at her. As he sneaked both his deep blue, almost violet eyes into the corner of his shoulder, he saw that it was, to much of his disdain, raining indeed. At this, and by no other means, realization, Damien growled lowly from his seat, while taking care not to scare off the girl, and mentally cursed to himself. If it rained it only meant one thing, he couldn't fight. It wasn't due to the fact that he couldn't fight because of the water weakening his devil fruit powers, but it was because most people would avoid battling during rainy weather. Yet, as he saw a few droplets of water spray themselves into the blonde's self, Damien took off his jacket and placed it around her with an awkward, yet sincere smile.

"I just met you and all, but that doesn't mean I can't be a gentleman." Said Damien as he placed the black, heavy, leather, customized coat over her shoulders. With it around her it looked as though it was some good five to six sizes too large for her, which made him chuckle a silent laugh. Afterwards, the girl offered him some food she brought over, which made him eye her suspiciously with his violet eyes, yet he figured it wasn't that odd to see people carrying there own food around so he just shrugged his shoulders. After removing his coat from his shoulders, all that was left of Damien's outfit was a blood-red A- shirt, a set of dark trousers, a belt made out of the pieces of a lock, and his two combat boots. He let his eyepatch work like a necklace now since he tied the strings and straps behind his thick neck and left it loose so it fell down his chest.

"Well, don't mind if I do." Answered Damien as he accepted her offer about giving him some of her food. Since she had vaguely eaten, he decided to pay for her meal himself, as a form of paying her back for the kind action she did.

Feeling the heavy jacket go on her shoulders. She stared at him her mind was more intrigued now. He wore an eye patch but could see perfectly fine which made no sense what-so-ever. Then he gave her his jacket. Emerald could feel the heavy jacket on her shoulders. She could smell the strong scent cover over her body. Then the leather piled in with the smells around her. She looked at the man and her mouth twitch softly as he ate the pocky stick without hesitation.

"Do you know what Hemotoxin is?"

Emerald gazed at him. Her eyes dancing over him a small smirk across her face. Her blank eyes now showed signs of interest. Her once blank lips showed a smirk like she was taunting him.

"Hemotoxin is a toxin that comes from certain snakes. What it does is that it slowly destroys red blood cells. Thus resulting in organ degeneration and tissue damage. If an animal has Hemotoxin in it, it is extremely painful. Although if you put it on a certain food it is almost.. well you know.. untraceable."

Emerald ate her pocky stick and smiled at him. Her eyes haunted him. She was teasing him about the pocky stick. The rain patted on the roof as it started to grow more and more. The pattering growing more and more louder. Although to make it more believable she had to add a story in it.

"As a child I would eat food covered in these Hemotoxins."

Eating the last pocky stick Emerald turned away from him. There was a long pause. The bartender could hear their conversation and was worried for the man. Most people would be worried knowing that this tiny girl was eating poison and put it on her food after the fact that they ate it. Emerald turned back towards the man and stuck her tongue out. Her now once interesting face was now a blank stare.

    "Just kidding."
