Name: Fisher D. Conrad.
Epithet: Laughing.
Age: 19.
Gender: None.
Race: Human.
Sexuality: None.
Affiliation: Rookie Pirate.
Occupation: Scientist.
Appearance: Tall with a good amount of muscle on his body, though he is overall average in size from there in consideration to his body, arms, hands, feet, etc., though he is missing his left middle toe. His hair is short and has a messy style with a cowlick sticking up at the front of his forehead. His regular attire consists of a white dress shirt and black tie, covered by a black vest and black labcoat. Black slacks held with a black belt and black shoes and socks cover his lower body. On his hands are black leather gloves. He wears a medium thick pair of black glasses to correct his vision. If you can’t tell, he likes the color black. It’s not exactly practical for a pirate, but he believes that making an impression from the moment you’re seen is rather important. His would be overdressed and stuffy.
His eyes have poor vision and are central heterochromatic with a blue inner ring fading to a green outer ring. He very much enjoys that.
Skin Tone: Pale.
Height: 1.9 m.
Weight: 90.7 kg.
Personality: A quiet and unapproachable person most of the time. However, he has a tendency to open up around people he knows or when doing activities he enjoys. Doesn’t feel comfortable wearing new clothes or clothes belonging to other people. Never liked water very much even before acquiring Devil Fruit powers. Tries most food at least once.
Laughs a lot. His father taught him to laugh whenever he felt upset, and it has proven to mentally handicap him in expressing his feelings. Rather than releasing negative emotions or feelings, he covers them up by laughing. Lack of parents after 8 years made him feel alone and unwanted.
He enjoys science and likes to make new inventions. He has a large knowledge of chemistry and engineering through reading and experimenting with things at his home. He is also a fairly accomplished swordsman after practicing for many years after finding a rusty cutlass on the beach one morning. From there, he trained himself for fun and to fight bullies and eventually came into possession of his own sword. He prefers its length. No real preference on pronouns.
Likes: Food, reading, science, traveling, cute stuff, well-maintained and well-crafted weaponry and ships.
Dislikes: Cleaning, fighting, bad chefs.
Motivations: Exploring the world and inventing something that makes the world a better place.
Fears: Heights, large crowds, being touched.
Behavior/Habits: Runs his hand through his hair when thinking or distressed, eats when bored, jumps up at loud noises. Sleeps on his stomach. Whistles when using tools. Enjoys the smell of sulfur. Sharpens sword when there aren't any books to read. Prefers to work out his arms than anywhere else. Can be lured to most things with the offer of free food. Tries to save money when he can by making most of the things he uses. Always returns library books early. Really hates the taste of green tea. Laugh is, “Ya ha ha!” Can do the splits, but just doesn’t want to.
History: Fisher D. Conrad grew up in a small village on an island in the South Blue. Both his parents had aspired to be pirates once upon a time, but had to put their dreams on hold after he was born. Despite being what most would call a burden, they still cared for their child. Sort of, anyway. They mostly ignored him and left him to his own devises, carrying on as a sort of pirate fan club. His father was notorious for giving him bad advice, most notably about laughing.
By the time he turned 8, he was already very independent. He would regularly walk himself to the market or the library, as well as around town for other needs. His parents were gone, usually welcoming travelers in the hopes they were pirates. As such, he would stay home and read most of the time. Eventually, though, they started coming home less and less. One day, they never did. They’d left the island aboard a pirate ship, completely forgetting about their child.
He’d never been bothered by being alone, but this time was different. Realizing he’d probably never see them again was more than just not seeing them in the morning when he woke up. He shut out everyone else as a result, even the ones who tried to help him or give him comfort. He began to patrol the beach every morning, trying to look for his parents. He gave up hope after a year, but still continued the walk as a habit.
It was during these walks that he found two important objects. One of them was a rusty cutlass. It washed ashore from a ship that went down several miles out. Though unimpressive, he immediately took an interest in it and began to practice with it. After several years, he’d actually managed to become a competent swordsman, having built training dummies and obstacle courses to practice on behind his house.
The other was his Devil Fruit. Similar in appearance to a sky blue coconut with spiral-shaped fur, he cracked it on a rock and drank its disgusting blue milk. Throwing it back where it came from as hard as he could, his powers began to manifest instantly after it was blasted further than it should have been by the jet of wind from his hand. From there, he experimented with his abilities to see what he could do and has been improving on it ever since.
His reading gave him a large amount of knowledge in various aspects of science. In addition, he has esoteric knowledge of various other subjects and things in the world. His desire to learn was what finally inspired him to set sail as a pirate. It would be a lie to say his parents hadn’t influenced him, though. Before leaving, an old neighbor gave him a family sword as a gift, wishing him well and hoping he would find what he wanted. The man had taken over the responsibility of caring for him after his parents had left, though his help was often rejected. Even so, he cared for the boy a great deal and wanted him to find happiness in life.
Buying a small boat and heading west, he had no idea where he would end up.
